About Emily Atkinson

Artist, Traveler, and Memory Maker

Emily Atkinson is an artist and arts educator originally from Austin, Texas. She has previously lived in Austin, New York, New Mexico, San Antonio, Tokyo, Holden Village, Tacoma; and now resides in Arlington, Virginia. Her artwork reflects her life experiences, and includes photography, jewelry, installations, constructed pieces, electronic media, and colored pencil drawings on wood. She enjoys incorporating maps into her work, along with text and story-telling elements. She has participated in shows at the Golden West Gallery in Stehekin, Washington, in 2018; and "Uncorked" at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center in 2020.
She also creates "fun" pieces - stuffed animals, pen and ink/watercolor illustrations, hand dyed and painted fabrics, and embroidered works.
